FEFAC publishes 12 key recommendations for the EU Strategic Agenda 2024-2029

On 31 May 2024, FEFAC published the factsheet with 12 key recommendations for the EU Strategic Agenda 2024-2029. To support the EU institutions’ reflection on how to improve the competitiveness, resilience, and circularity of European feed, livestock and aquaculture sectors, FEFAC members reviewed their key sector recommendations in the wake of the EU elections. This was done to leverage significant investment to accelerate the green transition, foster opportunities for sustainable growth, and support the EU’s strategic autonomy. This includes addressing the systemic nature of biomass production and biorefining activities (including feed, food, bioenergy, and other non-food uses) in Europe.

The factsheet was presented by FEFAC President Pedro Cordero at the 68th FEFAC Public Annual Meeting held in Brussels, gathering more than 120 value-chain partners of the agri-food sector. The recommendations address issues like how to diversify and secure our strategic supply chains, how to foster innovation and research, including in the defence sector, to help Europe achieve climate neutrality, and how to ensure our food security through a thriving agricultural sector. They also address how to develop a more circular and resource-efficient economy and reduce strategic dependencies.
