European Feed Manufacturers' Guide - EFMC
FEFAC Guide to good manufacturing practices for the EU industrial compound feed & premixtures manufacturing sector for food-producing animals . Version 1.2 was published in November 2014, upgrading the version from 2007.
Producing safe feed and food products is first and foremost a question of good management practices at each stage of the feed and food chain from primary production to final processing. It is therefore the responsibility of each operator in the feed & food chain to implement good practices to ensure the safety of the goods he produces.
The EFMC is a guide to good practices for the industrial manufacturing of compound feed and premixtures for food producing animals. It was first officially and successfully assessed by EU authorities in January 2007 who considered this Guide as a practical tool for the implementation of the hygiene and HACCP requirements of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005 on Feed Hygiene throughout the European community. A second first upgrade was published in November 2014 which includes more detailed guidelines on the feed safety management of salmonella and aflatoxins risks. A version with the highlighted sections that underwent changes is also available. A second upgraded version is currently under assessment by EU authorities, with additional requirements for the production of medicated feed.
