From Food Waste to Circular & Sustainable Animal Food Products

2–3 November 2026 | Hotel De Bilderberg, Netherlands

Food Waste Free United, in collaboration with Wageningen University & Research (WUR), will host an international conference on the large-scale valorisation of former foodstuffs and food by-products into animal feed.

The two-day conference will bring together stakeholders from across the food and feed chain to explore how circular solutions can reduce food waste, improve resource efficiency and contribute to more sustainable animal production.

Discussions will focus on the opportunities and challenges linked to scaling the use of former foodstuffs and other food side streams as feed, including business models, regulation, impact accounting and value-chain cooperation.

The programme will feature:

  • Examples of large-scale use of former foodstuffs and food side streams in animal feed
  • Sustainable value-chain concepts and partnerships
  • Approaches to reducing the carbon footprint of animal products
  • Policy discussions on regulatory barriers to using residual streams as feed
  • Interactive sessions on circular feed solutions and sustainable animal products
  • Site visits showcasing innovative approaches to resource valorisation in food and feed

The conference is aimed at feed producers and suppliers, food manufacturers and retailers, industry associations, research organisations, NGOs and public authorities interested in advancing circular approaches across the food and feed chain.
