The Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock launches official website on Sustainable Livestock Development

The Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) has launched its official website. It is currently available in English and will soon be translated into all six official languages of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations by the end of the year. This new digital platform serves as a central hub for information, updates, and resources related to GASL’s work. It offers insights into the partnership’s initiatives, news, publications, and tools to support stakeholders committed to advancing sustainability in the livestock sector.

GASL is a multi-stakeholder partnership that brings together public and private sectors, producers, academia, civil society, and international organizations. Since its inception in 2010, it has fostered collective action to address the critical challenges facing the livestock sector—challenges that are intensifying with a projected global population of 9.6 billion by 2050 and an estimated 70% increase in demand for meat, eggs, and milk. FEFAC is affiliated with GASL via the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF).

The partnership operates within a robust framework defined by four sustainability domains:

  • Food and nutrition security
  • Livelihoods and economic growth
  • Animal health and animal welfare
  • Climate and natural resource use

Central to GASL’s work are its nine Action Networks—thematic and regional expert groups that drive analysis, develop guidelines, support the adoption of good practices, share evidence-based recommendations and facilitate knowledge exchange among stakeholders.

Participation in GASL is open and voluntary, with members aligning themselves with the partnership’s principles and objectives. The launch of the new website marks an important milestone in enhancing visibility, coordination, and engagement with partners worldwide.
